Earth 2 Earth Coffins are produced by Permawise on our own farm here at Cwrcoed-uchaf OPD, a One-Planet Development just outside Aberteifi/Cardigan, West Wales using hay from our own wildflower meadow. No synthetics are used — 100% of the materials decay in the soil naturally leaving only beneficial nutrients behind. We are dedicated to producing eco coffins meeting the highest standards. Strong yet soft. Our mission: to help co-create that perfect eco-friendly send-off — one which is dignified and meaningful to the life lived, yet kind to both people and the planet.
We offer two options;
Our speciality, however, is our end-of-life co-build option. Here, we provide an opportunity for you to be part of the design, crafting and supply of materials. Together, we will fashion the coffin over a period of around 3-4 weeks fully supporting the practical and emotional preparations you need to go through.
Working directly with you and/or any helpers (e.g., 'end-of-life doula' or 'death midwife') our regular coffin format can be customised and co-created in ways that help you make a really personal statement to the world. All materials are posted/couriered so there is no need for any travel. Pagans and earth-worshipping spiritualists are especially welcome, so please identify this when ordering.
(NB: It is sometimes possible to arrange this service post-mortem, though time pressures on mortuaries/funeries often prevent this. This service is intended for people building their own coffins as part of a personalised end-of-life journey.)
Our coffins are designed with care and reverence, meticulously crafted to combine strength with sustainability. Handles and frames have been tested to 20 stone (130kg). We are also proud to provide products that pay proper respect to Wales, her agricutural traditions and the spirits of this land.
